Great Yorkshire Show 2022 Exhibitor Offer

As you will be aware that we are celebrating 200 years of the Coates Herd Book the oldest herd book in the world in 2022. One of the ways we are celebrating is by hosting the Shorthorn World Conference & Tour in July, the main highlight of the tour and the perfect opportunity to celebrate and show off our Dairy breed to the whole world will be at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Overall, the Shorthorn Breed is aiming to have 200 Shorthorns in total at the show for the 200 years, the target is to have it made up of 125 beef animals and 75 dairy animals. We appreciate this is a big ask for Dairy Shorthorns, but this may be our one & only, one-off amazing opportunity to get so many Dairy Shorthorn animals and exhibitors together in one place at one time, for a such huge celebration of the breed.

NOTE: because it is the World Conference there will an increased limit of 8 animals per an exhibitor for this special event.

To encourage Dairy Shorthorn exhibitors to attend The Shorthorn Society Council have kindly agreed to contribute towards the costs offering £20 per Cow In Milk and £10 for Dry Stock, for each exhibitor.

Further prize money has been provided by sponsor Norbreck Genetics totalling £300 for the Champion and £200 for the Reserve champion.

Local member, Martin Jackson has kindly offered to supply silage for anyone struggling with space on their transport and he has also kindly offered to try and find staff to help with preparation and showing if needed.

The Dairy Shorthorn Team are here to help if you have any questions, and we would urge anyone that is thinking of exhibiting to do it, it will be a once in a lifetime experience … not to be missed !!

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any think you want to ask.
