Penrith Sale - May 2021

28th May 2021
Lot 10 Churchroyd Lady Rose 40 by Lemon Grove Bellagio sold for 1,800gns

On Friday 28th May 2021 Penrith Mart held a special section for Dairy Shorthorns, attracting entries from 4 leading North County Herds. Despite the late spring and lack of keep the well bred milky cattle on offer still created interest with clients attending from a wide area. As in the April sale modern genetics were certainly much in evidence, a feature again being the Cor Bloo Richochet daughters from Mossrigg & Winbrook. Top honours at 2,400 gns went to regular consignors GA & DW Dent for Winbrook Peeress Rose 32, fresh giving 31 litres this heifer joined R Graves herd near Carlisle. She is the granddaughter of the EX94 Champion show cow Winbrook Peeress Rose who had protein records up to 3.79% & B/F to 4.9%. The average for all 13 heifers sold was £1645.27. It is becoming more obvious at these sales that more commercial producers are paying top money for strong cattle with high production potential which makes it an interesting future for our breed.
