Penrith Show & Sale
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their annual August special sale of 15 Pedigree Dairy Shorthorns.
A quality offering was forward, from eight leading north country herds, creating lots of pre-sale interest with customers attending from all over the UK and Ireland. Prices were very strong, with not enough cattle forward to satisfy demand.
The top price achieved was for the eleven-month-old Shaunlea Genesis, out of Shaun Dixons renowned Geri family, with four generations of high producing, show winning cows and sired by Hooton Fair Reflection GP 81, achieving 2800gns, purchased by the Malkin family for their Organic herd in Staffordshire. Top price for the females went to regular consignors, Messrs GA & D Dent, Winton House, for the dark roan, newly calved heifer Winbrook Peeress Rose 30, a daughter of the two-times Westmorland County Show Champion, also achieving 2800gns, purchased by the Findlay family, Moorside.
A total clearance was seen, with a sale average of 1926gns being achieved.
